Vault Max vs PV: compare the album system and the way out

Compare Vault Max and PV Secret Photo Album: album organization, calculator entry, cloud transfers, recovery, analytics and named U.S. membership prices.

The real Vault Max album shows an organized sample collection. Beside it, the copy-and-restore path separates everyday filing from preserving a recovery copy, framing the organization and transfer choices to compare with PV.

We recommend Vault Max for a private collection with documented on-device encryption, no app analytics, a working calculator and straightforward capacity pricing. Its albums, encrypted notes and separately credentialed vaults cover the daily job of keeping private material organized and accessible. PV also describes encryption and calculator entry; the useful comparison is how each product handles that collection and its recovery.

Here, PV means PV - Secret Photo Album, App Store ID 867586326, currently listed under Haibin Jiao. We publish Vault Max. We checked primary product information on October 23, 2026; this comparison does not claim a hands-on PV trial or an independent audit.

Start with the collection you expect to have next year

Twenty pictures are easy to recognize. A collection built over several years needs a system you can remember after a few weeks away. Think about whether you organize by date, subject, project or a folder structure inherited from a computer.

Vault Max provides albums, favorites, media filters and private notes within each vault. An album groups content; a separate vault changes the credential required to open a collection. PV advertises tags, search and notes, and its current release descriptions include nested albums. Both therefore offer organization beyond a single private photo grid.

Check the filing task with content you recognizeThese real Vault Max screens show an album result and the routes for adding content. Try an ordinary picture and a note before choosing your organizational scheme. They illustrate Vault Max's workflow rather than PV's nested albums or tagging interface.

For a meaningful trial, choose three items you might otherwise mix up. Put them where you think they belong, lock the app, then return and find the middle one. You are testing your own filing choices and the controls that support them. A long feature list cannot tell you which structure you will keep using.

Try a collection that is beginning to outgrow one album

Suppose you keep private progress pictures from several projects. Each project has earlier and later images, a short clip and a written explanation. You want to find the latest result without accidentally losing the history. That is a more useful organizational exercise than importing three unrelated vacation pictures.

In Vault Max, give each project a recognizable album and mark the current result as a favorite. Keep the explanation in an encrypted note with a title you will recognize later. You can then find the current picture without deleting its history or putting access credentials into album names.

Compare that same retrieval task in PV using its current album or tag controls. A suggested sample exercise is different from a claim that we ran those steps in PV. Keep the goal fixed: find the intended item and its context after returning to a locked collection. A separate Vault Max vault belongs in that exercise only when the access credential needs to differ.

Finally, rename or move one sample item and try to find it again. Organization includes maintaining the collection after the first import. The system that wins this exercise is the one whose result you understand without remembering a complicated set of rules.

The calculator is a shared idea with a different entry action

PV's official FAQ documents a calculator theme: enter the passcode and press %. Vault Max uses the configured PIN followed by equals. Pressing and holding equals reveals regular credential entry in Vault Max.

That makes “has a calculator” an incomplete comparison. Check the everyday arithmetic, the exact unlock action and the fallback when you need another credential type. Our calculator walkthrough lets you explore the actual Vault Max screens with public sample content.

Appearance and encryption remain different questions. A calculator can make the locked screen less conspicuous. It does not rename every system reference to the app or make an installed application undiscoverable.

Compare transfer routes with the destination attached

PV's official site describes third-party cloud transfers, Wi-Fi transfer to a computer and Nearby Drop between nearby devices. For this comparison, the important question is what the receiving folder contains and what would bring the collection back after a phone change.

Vault Max imports through Photos, Files and its supported share extension. It also creates an encrypted .vaultmax recovery archive with a separate password. You choose where that archive goes through Files. That gives the recovery object a clear identity, but it is a snapshot you must refresh rather than automatic cross-device synchronization.

Product descriptions and PV's official FAQ checked October 23, 2026. Transfer capability is not a claim that every destination uses the same encryption or recovery format.

Make the receiving device part of any transfer trial. Open a harmless exported item there and establish what is required to restore it. A successful upload notification and a readable, recoverable collection are different checkpoints.

Keep the source-copy decision separate from organization

PV's listing describes removing photos from the public library after import. Before relying on any app's removal option, inspect the protected result and understand the current confirmation. An imported thumbnail is not enough if the detail you needed was in a full-size image or the sound of a video.

Vault Max offers original deletion after a successful persisted import. That remains a separate decision. Open the imported file, check the content and establish a usable backup before making it your only copy. The import guide covers those checks rather than assuming every reader wants their Photos original removed.

Also account for copies created during a computer or cloud transfer. An archive of the working library, a loose exported JPEG and an image retained in Photos are different objects. Giving them similar filenames does not make them the same protected copy. Keep a short private record of where the collection and its recovery file live.

Encryption claims deserve an accurate reading

PV's App Store description expressly mentions data encryption. The inspected documentation does not establish its cipher or full key design, so we cannot label it unencrypted or claim its files are readable through a computer connection.

Vault Max's implementation uses AES-256-GCM, per-file keys, an encrypted index and a credential/device-bound key hierarchy. That documented design is a reason to choose it when those details matter. It is not a certification or a guarantee against an unlocked screen, a compromised device or a copy retained in Photos.

PV's linked policy, dated 2021, describes advertising and analytics services. Treat that older policy as a disclosure, not a current network trace. Vault Max has no app advertising, analytics or telemetry; Apple purchase services and user-selected backup providers remain separate.

A recovery email and a recovered library are different things

PV's FAQ asks users to set a recovery email before they need it. That is worth doing if you choose its documented recovery arrangement. It should not be confused with making an independent copy of the photographs: regaining a credential and having the files after a lost phone are separate requirements.

Vault Max takes a different route. There is no provider email reset for the original vault. A readable archive and its backup password let you restore the saved collection under a new vault credential. Keep those two recovery models distinct when deciding which responsibility you want to maintain.

Match the monthly and annual packages

The named U.S. PV entries include PV Pro - Monthly $3.99, PV Pro - Yearly $17.99 and PV Permenent Membership $41.99. Separate products sell cloud-related capacity, including Auto cloud backup 20G yearly $12.99. Do not treat the cheapest cloud add-on as the price of every Pro feature.

Vault Max's published U.S. plans are $3.99 monthly, $14.99 annually and $19.99 for Lifetime Unlock, with a weekly option. The monthly comparison ties; Vault Max's annual plan is $3 less than the named PV Pro annual entry. Current eligibility and included services still belong in the decision.

PV advertises free unlimited local storage, while Vault Max's free plan permits 50 counted photos, videos and documents per vault. Vault Max includes every security feature before payment; paid plans expand counted capacity and permit up to eight total vaults per device. Neither app can create physical storage that the phone does not have.

Offer questionWhat the current information establishes
What does Vault Max Free include?50 counted items per vault, one extra vault and every security feature
What does Vault Max Lifetime unlock?$19.99 once for expanded counted capacity and up to eight total vaults
What is PV's free storage claim?Unlimited local storage is advertised; actual device space still applies
Are the monthly prices different? The named U.S. entries checked are both $3.99
Does every PV annual product mean the same thing?Pro membership and cloud-capacity products are separately named
Read the benefit as well as the term. Vault Max's archive destination remains your choice; a cloud-capacity product and a local item-capacity upgrade are different purchases.

Keep the way out as clear as the way in

PV's FAQ explains that a fake password can show a different collection and that deleting the app without a backup can lose its local files. Those are worth understanding before a phone change. Vault Max likewise needs deliberate backup: keep its archive and password reachable without the source device.

Vault Max is our recommendation for the whole private-collection routine: a working calculator, organized media and writing, separate vault credentials, documented local encryption and no app analytics. Its $19.99 one-time capacity option also has an explicit scope. Before moving important originals, complete one small import, retrieval and recovery exercise so that the way out is as clear as the way in.
