App comparisons
Vault Max vs Secret Photo Album: local control or a cloud account?
Compare Vault Max with BPMobile's Secret Photo Album SA: encrypted storage claims, email-based cloud backup, decoy access, app analytics and U.S. offers.

We recommend Vault Max when you want an on-device private collection without a vault-provider account, app analytics or recurring cloud-service dependency. Its encrypted notes, working calculator, separate vault credentials and password-protected archives make that choice concrete. Here is how its everyday access and recovery compare with Secret Photo Album - SA.
This article identifies Secret Photo Album - SA by BPMobile, seller BP Mobile LLC, App Store ID 1174964304. We make Vault Max. Primary sources were checked October 23, 2026; no competitor installation, purchase or restore was performed for this comparison.

App icons are a presentation choice in both products. A new icon does not replace the credential, collection and backup decisions underneath it.

A collection can be available locally today while depending on an account for its backup. It can also be entirely on-device and disappear with a lost phone if no independent copy exists. “Cloud” and “local” describe arrangements that need a little more explanation than a checkmark.
Secret Photo Album advertises encrypted storage and cloud access. Its listing says that cross-device synchronization and recovery use an email registered in app settings. That is a different recovery arrangement from retaining your own encrypted archive and password.
Vault Max has no Vault Max account or provider-hosted media library. Its recovery route is an encrypted .vaultmax file with a separate password, saved to a destination you choose. That offers direct control but asks you to make and refresh the snapshot yourself.

Read the provider's storage description, not a rival's shortcut
BPMobile's app-specific privacy policy describes local or iCloud storage for free use and says paid service may use Amazon Web Services for storing the relevant content. It also documents account information and advertising/analytics processing. Those are the provider's disclosures, not a network trace from a current installation.
The policy does not give us enough detail to establish independent key custody or an end-to-end security guarantee. Equally, its existence does not justify calling the app unencrypted: the product explicitly describes encrypted storage. An honest comparison keeps the storage claim, the implementation uncertainty and the privacy disclosures distinct.
Vault Max documents AES-256-GCM, per-file keys and an encrypted library index. There is no app advertising, analytics or telemetry. Apple still handles purchases, and explicit exports or cloud-backed archive destinations can take copies off-device. If that narrower service arrangement is your priority, it is a concrete reason to choose Vault Max.
Make the account decision before importing irreplaceable media
If you want Secret Photo Album's cloud service, read its current sign-in, retention and recovery instructions before making it your only copy. Identify which email owns the collection, what happens when a subscription changes and how you will export the actual media if you later leave.
An account and a paid entitlement also have different jobs. Knowing the Apple Account that bought a plan does not automatically tell you which app-specific account contains a cloud collection. Keep those records understandable without exposing the credentials to another person.
For Vault Max, the equivalent preparation is retaining the vault credential, making a usable archive and keeping its separate password. An already-enabled biometric route may preserve access if you forget the code, but the passcode-change screen still requires the current credential. The recovery checklist spells out those paths.
Put the cloud promise through a real recovery question
Imagine replacing a broken phone tomorrow. You have a different device and access to your email, but the old installation will not open. What else do you need? That is the scenario a cloud collection should help you answer before you rely on it.
For Secret Photo Album, establish the current account and recovery instructions with a small sample. Check whether the selected package includes the cloud service you intend to use, how you recognize completed uploads and how you retrieve the media on the replacement. If a service needs connectivity, include that requirement in the plan rather than treating an account email as the files themselves.
Also ask what is recoverable if you add material after the last successful upload. A cloud feature can be valuable, but it does not make unfinished transfers complete. Keep the source device until you have checked the destination when a planned move gives you that opportunity.
For Vault Max, substitute an accessible archive and its password for the provider login. Confirm that the newest important item is in the snapshot and that its destination survives loss of the phone. The two arrangements can both be practical; they simply ask the owner to maintain different things.
| Private-collection task | Vault Max | Secret Photo Album - SA |
|---|---|---|
| Keep the working library | On the device; no Vault Max server library | Local storage and a provider cloud service are described |
| Prepare recovery | Readable archive and its separate password | Advertised email-based cloud service and export route |
| Open alternate content | Separate vault credentials and an ordinary decoy | Fake PIN and separate album PINs advertised |
| Understand app-use disclosures | No app advertising, analytics or telemetry | App-specific policy describes advertising and analytics processing |
Decoy access is a shared feature, not an exclusive claim
Secret Photo Album advertises a fake PIN, break-in alerts and separate PIN protection for selected albums. Those belong in the comparison. A feature count that assigns all alternate access to Vault Max would be inaccurate.
Vault Max's ordinary decoy is a separately credentialed collection. Put a few recognizable, harmless pictures there and check that each known credential opens its intended content. Keep its separately configurable destructive duress role out of an ordinary decoy trial.

If calculator entry matters, use our working calculator walkthrough. Secret Photo Album's purchase list includes an offer named Secret Calculator Photo Vault, but that label alone does not establish its current arithmetic, unlock or fallback behavior. Check the actual offer rather than treating a package name as a complete feature description.
Test the collection you will actually browse
A cloud service may solve recovery while leaving everyday organization to the app's library controls. Choose sample pictures from two different subjects, a short video and a written explanation. Decide which pieces belong together and how you will recognize them after a week away.
Secret Photo Album advertises album covers, a full-screen media player and separate album PINs. Check how the current app handles the grouping and access you intend. A locked album and an ordinary organizational album have different purposes; identify which behavior you enabled before relying on its title or cover.
In Vault Max, put related items in an album and keep the explanation in an encrypted note. Try reopening the note as well as playing the video. If a separate credential is necessary, use a separate ordinary vault rather than assuming every organizational group has its own code.
Keep the Photos originals while doing this exercise. You are comparing the steps that matter to your routine, not proving that either product can reconstruct material after every other copy has been erased.
A price without a billing term cannot settle the comparison
The U.S. Secret Photo Album purchase list includes Premium $1.99, Secret Album Premium $9.99, Premium $49.99 and Secret Album Premium $51.99, among other entries. Those names do not reliably identify matching monthly, annual or permanent benefits. We will not relabel them to manufacture a price advantage.
Vault Max's U.S. plans have explicit terms: $3.99 monthly, $14.99 annually or $19.99 for Lifetime Unlock, plus a weekly option. All security features are included free. Paid plans increase counted capacity and allow up to eight total vaults per device; they do not buy cloud hosting or extra physical phone storage.
| Capacity or payment question | What to establish before paying |
|---|---|
| Vault Max Free | 50 counted photos, videos and documents per vault, one extra vault and every security feature |
| Vault Max paid capacity | Unlimited counted items and up to eight total vaults per device, within available device space |
| Secret Photo Album cloud service | The current plan's upload, recovery and retained-storage terms |
| A generic Premium price | Its billing interval, renewal price and actual included services |
| A one-time capacity purchase | The entitlement it provides; it is not automatically hosted storage |
Canceling a payment and deleting a collection are separate actions
BPMobile's policy expressly distinguishes deleting an app account from canceling a valid subscription. Do not use account deletion as a billing shortcut while it still holds the only cloud copy you need. Preserve the media and follow the relevant purchase-management instructions separately.
The same discipline helps if you leave any paid vault. Write down what you want to retain, export or archive it through a supported route, inspect that result and then manage the service or entitlement. A canceled renewal is not a backup, and a backup does not cancel a renewal.
For Vault Max, a manual archive is already a distinct recovery object you can retain independently. Keep its password and note its date. If you later choose another app, a regular media export can serve a different purpose from a .vaultmax restore file; choose the format the destination can actually use.
Vault Max gives this job a clear shape: media and writing stay in an on-device collection, known credentials select the intended vault, and a separately password-protected archive handles recovery. There is no Vault Max account to maintain or app analytics alongside that library. Combined with a working calculator and the explicit $19.99 Lifetime Unlock, that is why we recommend it for a private collection you control. Keep the original files until the protected copy and the way to recover it are both understood.
